Red Dead Online to Leave Beta in June & Rumors of RDR2 on PC Resurface

There are a lot of little pieces of news with regard to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Redemption Online that came during Rockstar's investor's call yesterday. Everything from rumors of a PC release to RDO leaving beta testing this summer are all part and parcel.

Rumors of Red Dead Redemption 2 making its way to PC have resurfaced thanks to wily Redditors who discovered one of Rockstar's former Leeds programmers listing his experience working with RDR2 for "PS4/Xbox1/PC". A second programmer named Nan Ma formerly from the Toronto studio also posted of his experience working on RDR2 for "PS4,XB1,PC". It's worth noting that Grand Theft Auto 5 took over three years to get to PC, so it comes with a grain of salt.

Up next is the news that Red Dead Online will be leaving beta testing this quarter, meaning it will be in full retail release prior to the end of June. Devs are also planning to push "significant new content" when it leaves beta testing.

Next on the docket is the news that Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped over 24M copies worldwide. It is, according to the earnings call, still performing and has shipped over a million copies since the last earnings report. As a side note, GTA5 has shipped over 100M copies in its six-year lifespan.

Last up is the news that RDR2 developer Rockstar has snapped up Dhruva, a subsidiary of Starbreeze that is selling off assets in a bid to stay afloat for the foreseeable future. Dhruva was sold to Rockstar for $7.9M.
