The time has come to hire a crew and battle for fame, expertise and piasters on your own war ship. As captain of a Caribbean, Mediterranean or East Asian vessel, you’ll head out to sea, get the wind in your sails, prime your cannons and engage in explosive naval warfare. Wind of Luck Arena (WoLA) is a Free to Play Multiplayer Battle Arena game by independent developers “Trazzy Entertainment”.
Continuing the saga of the highly popular psychological horror series “F.E.A.R”, Korea’s Inplay Interactive bring us a free-to-play online shooter. I had to ask myself, how does a single-player campaign translate into a multiplayer setting? Doesn’t the fact that you have a group lesson the potential or opportunity to provide the scare factor we have come to expect while playing F.E.A.R alone in the dark?
Where crafting fits in the grand scope of WildStar has been unclear for some time. While we have seen numerous outflows of information about itemization, we haven’t seen much specific to crafting. There is a prevalent feeling of dissatisfaction within the crafting community with regards to specialization, craftings place in the economic footprint and the burden of the RNG monster always affecting the output of items more than the skill of the craftsman.
Survival games have been all the rave the last few years and we have seen just about every flavor imaginable. We have also seen numerous construction games being developed to provide a virtual sandbox for every to play in. What we haven’t seen too many of is a marriage of these two types of games and put into the same package.
As many do, I like to keep an eye on games being developed. Color me intrigued when I found one available to play during its Kickstarter that doesn’t require monetary participation to download and play it. That is exactly what Project Gorgon is doing. They are letting you get your hands on a very early build so you can see if it is something you want to be involved with and decide to support their Kickstarter.
In the latest patch from En Masse’s intense third-person shooter Zombies Monsters Robots, a new Tower Defense Style mode called “Threshold Defense” has been added. Unlike the other modes we have seen, the monsters are less interested in you, at least until you attack them, as they are trying escape out a portal. Wave upon wave is thrown at you until either you succeed at suppressing 10 waves or you allow 30 monsters to escape, so be sure to KILL EVERYTHING!
Redefining “Massive” in a 3rd-person Combat RPG is Behaviour Interactive Studio Head of the online games Miguel Caron’s drum beat. Building a world set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe; making it an open persistent planet that’s officially part of the lore (Arkhona) which can support over a 1000 players in a single battle... this is what Eternal Crusade plans to bring to us in late 2015.
Anyone who carries a Mobile Device and loves gaming is always on the lookout for something that can can give you a quick fix or keep you engaged for hours. I recently got an opportunity to visit Undead Labs and check out Moonrise, a real-time combat RPG that really made the obsessive compulsive gamer collector in me get excited. You could equate it to a Pokémon MMO with a few twists.
Recently at SOE Live it was announced that PVP and more was coming to Landmark, and our own Jean Prior was there to give us a Preview. This got me excited, so I sought out David Georgeson Director of Development at PAX Prime to get a better understanding on how PVP came about and why it's part of a game that started as a building game. The answers were surprising but make perfect sense.
In 2009 Bioware presented us with a high fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins which began an epic saga that has consisted of 8 DLCs, an expansion pack and a compilation edition. They followed it up with Dragon Age II in 2011 that had 4 DLCs of its own. It is now three years later and the story continues in their third title Dragon Age Inquisition. In this saga they added a 4 player co-op dungeon crawling experience to complement the single player adventure you are used to.
As a Retired Navy Chief I was skeptical of how well Wargamming.net could possibly understand Naval Warfare and be able to capture the feeling, but I have to say that for such an early Alpha build they are on the right track.
Every so often you will come across a game that absolutely captivates you and begs to be played. There are so many different things that attracts a player to a game, whether it is the art style, genre, concept or as simple as the way it plays. This Saturday morning at PAX I had one of the moments when I was able to get hands on with the new game being developed by Motiga. Gigantic, from the moment I sat down in front of the PC, just had me enthralled.
Who doesn’t love a game that has Zombies Monsters or Robots? While I am generally not a multiplayer third person shooter player, the back story Yingpei Games, formerly known as Epic Games China tells about the Earth being assaulted by extra-dimensional creature that comes through the portal gates which Earth invented is an intriguing one. These gates opened the way and has turned the Earth into battle ground where you have to fight pretty much anything you can imagine.
As I often do in the evening, I was discussing WildStar, theorizing and planning strategies for launch. This led to a discussion about what my plans are for housing plug optimization. This struck me as an odd question until I realized that there was a need to plan out housing plugs for optimal benefit. Not only for myself but across the guild; further yet to the potential of a shared housing plug circle.
