I finally got my chance to go hands-on with Marvel's Avengers with this weekend's beta and ultimately it's been a mixed bag of highs and lows for me so far.
It's a pretty weird and unsettling time in this world of ours right now. With many of us hunkering down at home, things can get downright boring at times. Fortunately, if you're someone who enjoys videogames, you likely have a backlog of games to play through or even some new titles to play in the coming days and weeks.
With the release of the July War Table, I think I've finally crossed into highly anticipated territory with Marvel's Avengers. The game looks well-polished at this point and the team's willingness to show a good deal of gameplay (and allow players to play through a solid chunk of content in the beta) inspire confidence in me that Crystal Dynamics may have something solid on their hands.
Yesterday, Microsoft gave us a look at some of the games coming to the Xbox Series X in a live streamed showcase event. I don't particularly care about the Series X as someone who games on PC announcements are still relevant to me. Despite a lack of gameplay in some key reveals, the showcase generally impressed me. These are some of the highlights.
We already know the ships Star Wars: Squadrons will feature at launch and with no (current) plans for DLC the notion of getting any additional ships post-launch is really just a hope at this point. But that's OK. Speculation is fun! If EA does ever decide to add more ships, these are some of the ships I'd like to see.

EA only has the license until 2023, but it's my view that this change in approach is a signal that the company would like to keep that license, so I expect to see quite a few projects pop up between now and then to make up for some seriously lost time. With that in mind, if EA is going to be doubling down on Star Wars, these are some of the games I'd like to see.
If you told me that in the year 2020 I would be getting a remake of Final Fantasy VII, a sequel to Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines, Baldur's Gate III, and Star Wars: Squadrons, a spiritual successor to the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series of Star Wars space "sims," I would've told you that you were absolutely full of it.
Aside from Mark Cerny's presentation, Sony's marketing for the PlayStation 5 has been a bit low key. Gamers everywhere have been looking forward to more details on the console or to just see the damn thing for some time now. Yesterday, Sony finally delivered. How did it go? These are some of the hits and misses of the presentation.
Legendary Perks, a new account wide perk system, is currently in testing on Fallout 76's public test server and things are not looking good. While my adventures in Fallout 76 began recently, longtime fans have been looking forward to Legendary Perks for almost a year now and the response from the community has been less than enthusiastic to say the least.
Gordian Quest draws clear inspiration from a number of different games and genres, but manages to combine them pretty well. At its core, Gordian Quest is a party based RPG with the mechanics of a roguelite deckbuilder serving as its foundation.
Bethesda isn't the most communicative studio out there when it comes to Fallout 76, but the team did recently release its latest roadmap, giving players an overview of what's coming to the game this year. Honestly? There's a good deal to be excited about.

Even if you aren't invested in the League of Legends IP, Legends of Runeterra is absolutely worth checking out for any card game fan and there's no better time to do it than now.
With Wastelanders now out, I decided to give the game another shot. Is Fallout 76 finally worth playing? The short answer is sort of.
