2017 was a massive year for Grinding Gear Games and Path of Exile. Touting more players than ever before, the online Action RPG seems to keep growing at an impressive rate. We chatted with GGG’s Chris Wilson after our recent preview of the upcoming 3.2 Bestiary Challenge League update to talk about the game’s ongoing success and what keeps it fresh after so many years.
Due out on March 2nd worldwide for both XBOX and PC, Path of Exile’s about to invite you to be the very best, that no one ever was. The Bestiary Challenge League update brings with it a ton of new content to tackle in a brand new economy with fresh mechanics. Perfect for new and old players alike, the Bestiary update lets you go all Ahab on the monsters and beasties of Wraeclast.
As part of the #GWFriendships campaign, we had the chance to interview two of the game’s bestest friends… so close in fact that they actually got married after meeting in Tyria. This is the tale of Tyler and Nicole, and how ArenaNet’s MMORPG brought them together.
Dragon Bones, Elder Scrolls Online’s latest update (Update 17 to be exact) launched yesterday on PC. It comes out in 2 weeks for XBOX and PS4, and brings with it a heaping host of great changes. While the two new dungeons are paid DLC, the bulk of the changes and additions are free for all. Today we’re listing the five best things in ESO’s Update 17…
This week's MMOFTW is all about the massive new Crowfall Data Dump, the WoW Alpha start and Blizzard's big money 2017, Fellow: Eternal Clash's closed beta, and ESO's Dragonbones patch!
It seems like a long shot, since traditionally Eastern MMORPGs are played but niche here in the states. But I think there’s good reason to believe that on the heels of successful games like Black Desert Online, Ascent: Infinite Realm and Bless Online could make publishers think twice about investing in AAA MMORPGs. Of course, this is purely me spitballing on a slow news Friday, so let’s play shall we?
Monster Hunter World may be the first time I’ve played and enjoyed a Monster Hunter game. As an online experience, it’s not quite an MMO and yet it does plenty that I think future MMORPGs can learn from. In this list we’ll explore 5 things MMOs can learn from Capcom’s Monster Hunter World.
Conqueror's Blade recently had its first closed beta. In development for five years from Booming Games and NetEase, it's a unique take on the MMO. In short, you're controlling not only your own character, but an entire army of soldiers as well. We talked with the folks behind the game to find out more about it...
PopUp Dungeon was recently announced in partnership with Humble Bundle. The game takes user-generated content to the next level, allowing everyone to bring in their own assets to make their ideal dungeons, play with friends, level up, and run endless content. We caught up with Triple-B-Titles to talk about the game and its design.
This week's MMOFTW is all about the Legends of Aria Closed Beta, Conqueror's Blade, SWTOR's road-map, Age of Conan's new Saga Servers, and WoW's Battle for Azeroth expansion! Watch and learn.
Sick of zombie survival games? We all are. But don’t let that deter you from keeping an eye on Dead Maze, a new isometric animated MMORPG from indie developer Atelier 801. It’s a 2D MMO that will be F2P (free to play) when it launches in the coming weeks, and we’ve spent a little time with its closed beta. What we found is a surprisingly robust-featured game that takes a unique story-oriented approach at what’s traditionally just a “kill or be killed” genre.
Dark and Light may be in early access, but that doesn't stop Snail Games from treating the project like a live game. In this interview we discuss the Scalding Abyss, the latest big update, and how the project is working towards its hybrid MMORPG/Survival sandbox goals.
This week's MMOFTW covers the five biggest stories in the MMO world for the week of January 20th. Devilian is sunsetting, Camelot Unchained has monies, WoW scales its levels, Bless commits to Steam Early Access soon, and Rift gets a subscription only server.
Middle of the road patches in World of Warcraft are rarely so impressive. But 7.3.5 has almost entirely reinvigorated the leveling process of the game. By activating leveling scaling across the entire game, with some caveats, the act of raising a new character is not only inviting, but it’s far more enjoyable because you can finally do it however you want. 13 years into Azeroth’s MMO existence, and leveling is now the best it’s ever been.
For the first time in over a year, MMOFTW is back. This week it's all about Pantheon's Most Wanted win, New World's possible leak, BDO's new costume system, AIR's dubbed trailer, Bless Online's dungeons, and more. Watch and get caught up on the week of MMO news!
