ArenaNet and the Wisdom of Not Doing Anything

ArenaNet should be having a good time. The latest update to the Path of Fire expansion came out, it was universally acclaimed by media and players. They’ve scored a win, and regained momentum. But then… well, then an employee spoke out on Twitter. And then the President made an example of her, and another employee. And now ArenaNet is in the middle of a PR blunder of its own creation.

The Xth Time’s the Charm

I recently started playing Warframe... again. For about the 10th time maybe? For whatever reason, it’s been one of those games I really want to enjoy - I love the very idea of it - but it’s never stuck with me. That’s finally changed, and I’m not entirely sure why. But what I do know is that I’m finally understanding why 24 million-plus people have found themselves enjoying Digital Extremes MMO-like Action RPG-shooter hybrid.

Open Beta Impressions - Improved but How Much?

My foray into the final PC beta for Defiance 2050 didn’t have an auspicious beginning. The MMO shooter’s opening tutorial was busted in such a way that one simply could not progress the past that first instance with Cass. But eventually, Trion disabled the tutorial while they fixed it, and then things got better. These are our impressions of the Open Beta on PC for Defiance 2050.

Sponsored The Simple Glowing Beauty of an Origin PC - SPONSORED

When Origin PC agreed to build me a custom MMORPG.com themed tower, I about had a heart attack. I’ve been playing with Origin PCs at conventions since what seems forever. My old self-built tower was definitely getting long in the tooth, and I’d been looking for what my next step would be. The planets aligned, and here I am showing off this brand new AMD Ryzen 7 2700 powered beast.

Three Things I Want from Fallout 76

Fallout 76 stole a lot of the “show” at E3 last week. How could an always online multiplayer Fallout not do that? Still, there’s a lot about this upcoming game we don’t know, despite the interviews and previews coming out of the big reveal. We know it’ll have PVP, we know it’ll have PVE, and we know that’ll be very much a Fallout game, just in an always online and persistent world. Here then are five things I want from Fallout 76 to make it worth playing.

My Most Wanted Features

I’ve made no secrets that my favorite MMORPG these days is Elder Scrolls Online. Each content update seems to make the game better, there’s more stuff to do than just about every other game on the market, but that doesn’t mean there’s not room for more. Today’s list is all about my top five most wanted features for Elder Scrolls Online.

Hot Take: Mavericks - Proving Grounds is the Start of Something Special

During the PC Gaming Show last night, we finally got a look at the Improbable-powered Battle Royale, Mavericks: Proving Grounds. Before your eyes roll so far back into your head from the idea of another BR game, take note - Mavericks: Proving Grounds is the first step in what will become a bold new MMO shooter from Automaton. The Battle Royale is just the beginning...

Fallout 76 is indeed an MMORPG, and it sounds pretty great!

During the #BE3 press event, Bethesda's Todd Howard took the stage to show off Fallout 76, the epic new RPG set just a decade after the bombs fell in the wildnerness of a wasted West Virginia. And yes, it's an MMO like ESO! Coming out November 14th, 2018!

The next DLC for Elder Scrolls Online is Wolfhunter Dungeons and Blackmarsh

During the #BE32018 press event, Bethesda and Zenimax Online announced the next big DLC for their epic MMORPG, Elder Scrolls Online.

Summerset Review

Last year’s Morrowind chapter put Elder Scrolls Online on a whole new level. I was already a fan, but that expansion cemented the MMO as my go-to game in what’s available today. I approached Summerset with trepidation, because the setting and story didn’t have the same draw as that mythical return to 2002’s Vvardenfell. I’m happy to report that Summerset is an even better experience than Morrowind.

Zenimax Accidentally Integrates Ad Spyware, Removing It Monday

It seems there were some crossed wires at Zenimax Online Studios, as the makers of Elder Scrolls Online accidentally flipped the switch on ad tracking software known as Redshell in a recent patch. It was apparently a tool they've been researching, but not one that was supposed to be on the live servers yet.

Summerset Review in Progress

On the way to our full review come June 5th, we’re diving into Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset, the latest Chapter released for the epic Tamriel-based MMORPG. Will it continue to impress our ESO fanboy, Bill Murphy, with its story-driven wiles, or will more of the same not be enough? Let’s find out!

Five Things to Do First in Summerset

Today’s the day. Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset launches on PC for Pre-Order folks, while others have to wait until June 5th. So what all does that mean you can do today, if you’re one of the many who planned ahead? Join us as we list the five things you should do first when Summerset is live on the ESO PC servers.

Roccat HORDE AIMO Keyboard Review: Membranical Mechanicals Can

We review a lot of keyboards here at MMORPG.com. Some are fantastic examples of function over form. Enter Roccat’s latest, the Roccat Horde AIMO may look just like any other, and in some ways that’s true. But the “membranical” keys, functionality, and the simple but extremely effective addition of the function dial make this $90 keyboard stand out.

Eden Rising: Supremacy Early Access Review

Eden Rising: Supremacy is, as far as I know, a first of its kind. From Nvizzio, it’s a persistent world co-op open world Action RPG tower defense game. It’s equal parts Orcs Must Die and Conan Exiles, but without the dong slider. There’s no thirst, hunger, or any other survival mularkey, and yet the game sets you out to explore, gather, and craft in the name of defending your home base. It’s addictive, difficult, and should be on your radar if you like co-op action games with persistent worlds.
