Today marks the launch of three incredibly anticipated non-MMO games, but if there’s one I didn’t expect to be so thoroughly engrossing, it’s Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. In a day where publishers and press are bemoaning the decline of single player, MachineGames and Bethesda give us a surefire contender for game of the year. This is our Not So MMO - Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus review.
Destiny 2 is finally out on the PC, and we spent a good chunk of yesterday toying around with the new shiny shooter from Bungie. There are two main gripes we have about the PC version so far, but neither are absolutely debilitating. Read on for our Destiny 2 PC review in progress.
It’s finally here - we’re venturing into Sotha Sil’s domain, the Clockwork City. ESO’s been keeping their promise of quarterly DLCs, and The Clockwork City is their last announced addition to the game of 2017. What comes in 2018 is anyone’s guess, but if this is the way to close out the year, then Zenimax Online Studios is doing things right. This is our Elder Scrolls Online Clockwork City DLC review.
This week’s HiRez Bugle is chock full of news for the independent Georgia developer’s games. Not only did Paladins see a patch with the new Champion Terminus, but SMITE also saw a bunch of new skins. The big news though is that the closed beta for Hand of the Gods is now officially open on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4!
Guild Wars 2 is five years old now. Can you believe it? The original game launched to huge acclaim, fanfare, and millions of sales. Five years on, it feels like ArenaNet is hitting their stride once more with the Path of Fire expansion. Simply put, this is the best Guild Wars 2 has been since launch. Read on for our Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire review.
The Clockwork City launches next week on October 23rd, and right now the massive DLC is on the public test server hosted by Zenimax. It’s also where I sat down with Creative Director Rich Lambert and Greg Roth of ZOS to talk about Sotha Sil’s famous creation and how the ESO team is rebuilding that which one of the Tribunal built himself.
I was up way too late last night. I usually am but this time it was worth it – I finally got to play Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon expansion for myself and I am most certainly impressed. Cetus and the Plains of Eidolon are a giant leap forward for the game, even if it’s ultimately just the beginning of what promises to be a bold new era for the space ninjas.
For our next two lists, we’ll be diving into the NPCs of our favorite MMORPGs to find the best heroes and villains across the genre. This week, we’re starting with the good guys, picking our 10 favorite MMORPG heroes of all time.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar, from the studio founded for its creation (Airship Syndicate), is a love letter to 16-bit era JRPGs, but also a revival of one of studio founder Joe Madureira’s most personal works. Battle Chasers is a cult-classic fantasy comic, and now it’s bound to become a cult classic RPG. The recently released game sports gorgeous visuals, great voice acting, and strategic turn-based combat to make a compelling experience that’s worth any fan of the genre’s time.
Today, Soulbound Studios announced the hiring of Adam "Snipehunter" Maxwell as the Lead Designer on Chronicles of Elyria. We sat down with the former Rift, Star Citizen, and Revival game maker to chat about what he's bringing to the table for Soulbound's premiere MMORPG.
Crucial is known for their competitive, and often cheaper, SSD solutions. Always seemingly a step behind Samsung, Crucial still remains a reliable, affordable alternative. 2015’s BX200 was recently replaced by the new BX300, and with a hefty performance upgrade. Read on for our review.
This week’s HiRez Bugle comes to us with a bevy of new Halloween goodness for Paladins, Hand of the God’s own celebration, and Smite’s details on the next Odyssey 2018 story update. Read on!
Next week, we will put a score and summary on Path of Fire, the new Guild Wars 2 expansion. But this week, we’re still working through the deluge of new content and massive new zones. While many players have scooted through the story and started unlocking their Griffon mounts, we’re taking our time, seeing the sights, and getting lost in jumping puzzles and random encounters. In short, it’s like a return to form for Tyria. The game I fell in love with back in 2012 feels like it’s returned.
The cat's out of the bag: ArenaNet put a secret hidden mount inside of their latest Guild Wars 2 expansion: Path of Fire. Now that everyone everywhere is getting their Griffon, we caught up with the designers to chat about how and why they decided to keep this one a secret.
This week we’re ranking the 10 best story-driven MMOs of all time. That means we’re going to try and put numbers on feelings we all have for the narratives we play through when we’re living in these virtual worlds. It’s a tall order, and one we’re sure you’ll have some mixed emotions over. Without further ado, here are our 10 Best Story Driven MMOs of All Time.
