With the updates to Final Fantasy 14’s graphics for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion also comes some major updates to not only graphics, but also the glamour system—and glamour experts, as well as people who just like to look nice, are especially looking forward to the overhaul to the dye system. At the Dawntrail Media Tour, we were able to get our hands on this new dye system and its nifty new features.
One of the biggest promised features of the dye update is its two-dye system, which allows players to dye not only the primary fabric of clothing, but also a secondary detailing of color.
Also included in this update are some tools to help you navigate between different dyes you’ve chosen before. There’s a “favorite” tool of sorts that you can select for future use, and the interface also holds onto the last dye options you selected for reference. You can also swap between the two dyes, primary to secondary and vice versa, and—wait for it—redo and undo your selections. Woah.
We were able to bring home a bit of footage, albeit in development (and with Japanese text we aren’t allowed to show), so you get an idea of what you can accomplish once Dawntrail’s 7.0 update arrives later this month.
