Trading Finally Comes to the Game Along with Other Ways to Interact with Friends
The Pokemon Go site has been updated with a new developer blog that reveals several new features that will be rolled out into the game over the course of this week. Players will have new ways to interact with friends by creating a friends list that allows "tracking their adventures" and will lend the ability to send items to them, earn bonuses and even trade Pokemon (FINALLY!).
During the Photo Disc spin at any PokeStop or Gym, players may receive a special Gift. These are not able to be opened by the player, but must instead be sent to someone on your Friends List. They can contain all sorts of items as well as a "postcard" showing them where the gift was picked up.
Friendships also "level up". Sending gifts or going to a raid or Gym battle with them grows the Friendship Level that unlocks bonuses when playing together. Trading Pokemon with friends also raises the Friendship Level.
You can also build your Friendship Level by trading Pokémon with a friend. If you’re near a friend and have a Trainer Level of 10 or higher, you can trade Pokémon you’ve caught with that friend. Completing a trade earns a bonus Candy for the Pokémon you’ve traded away, and that bonus can increase if the Pokémon you traded were caught in locations far apart from each other! All trades are powered by Stardust, and some trades require more Stardust than others. As you build your Friendship Level with the friend you are trading with, you’ll find that you can complete the trade with much less Stardust.
