Niantic Scores the Biggest Mobile Game in US History

Niantic Scores the Biggest Mobile Game in US History -

While the dubious wording of "biggest mobile game in US history" is present, mobile gaming being a rather new phenomenon history-wise, it is nonetheless worth noting that Pokemon Go has become the biggest game ever in the United States based on average daily users counted in the millions. Pokemon Go players number in the range of 21-22M per day while 2013's Candy Crush Saga, the second largest mobile game, hovered around 20M per day.

Pokemon Go has already outpaced Twitter and is now making big strides to overtake both Snapchat and Google Maps in terms of daily users.

Despite what Nintendo’s share price might suggest, it’s too early to declare Pokémon GO a win for the business. Nintendo have a minority stake in Pokémon GO, and will pocket just a small slice of the game’s profits.

History hasn’t always been kind to games that generate tremendous hype. Back in 2012, Draw Something consumed the public consciousness for a few weeks before its user numbersdropped like a stone. Nintendo’s last mobile game, Miitomo, met a similar fate, finding early success that was ultimately unsustainable.
