Pidgey Taking Wing After New Update

The Pokemon Go Twitter account has brought great news to fans tired of Rattata, Pidgey and Zubat. The implication is that, most players find pages and pages of these boringly common Pokemon, that will become less likely as rarer, more interesting critters are found instead.


Daily Bonuses Coming Soon

In a future update, Pokemon Go players will have a new feature to help them catch 'em all. Called Daily Bonuses, players will be able to complete certain activities on a daily basis that might include catching a Pokemon or visiting a PokeStop. After a week's worth of daily activities, players can earn a larger bonus.


Trainers Can Take On Halloween Beginning October 26th

Starting October 26th, Pokemon Go players will be able to score some Halloween goodies thanks to an in-game event that will run through November 1st. Each new Pokemon will net six candies and trading one in will yield two candies while walking about with one's companion Pokemon will earn four times the usual amount.


Ninety Days to $600M - Faster Than Any Other Game

Niantic is enjoying another record-breaking stat with today's information release that Pokemon Go raked in $600M+ in under a hundred days. The next closest game to match the revenue generation at that level is Candy Crush Saga that took twice as long followed by Puzzle & Dragon (400+ days) and Clash of Clans (500+ days).


Niantic Going to Court in Holland For Protected Beach Access

Representatives of the Dutch city of The Hague are taking Niantic Labs to court on October 11th after repeated attempts to contact the company to restrict Pokemon Go from a protected location and during the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. According to city authorities, Niantic has not responded to requests from the city since mid-August so felt there was no alternative than court to settle the issue.


Daily Active Users & Engagement in Decline

Bloomberg is reporting a steep decline in active worldwide daily users of Pokemon Go. According to Axiom Capital Management, if these declines continue, it could cast a shadow over the idea of Pokemon Go itself, and augmented reality altogether. User Engagement is also showing a steady decline since mid-July and through August 18th.

Reddit user NetWoodle has posted an offer on the /r/ICanDrawThat Reddit page for anyone who may like to see their favorite Pokemon doodled. NetWoodle will draw "real" or imaginary Pokemon. Currently there are 577 posts so it may be awhile before you see your favorite, but why not, right?

20-Year-Old Baseball Star Killed While Playing

A young baseball star playing Pokemon Go in a very public place at a reasonable hour of night was shot and killed in what appears to be a random act of violence at a Pokestop on San Francisco's Aquatic Park near the city's largest tourist location. 20-year-old Calvin Riley, a budding collegiate baseball star, was shot in the chest and died, despite the efforts of first responders.


Iran Bans The Hunt

The Iranian government has made a ruling that Pokemon Go will be banned in its country. Iran's High Council Of Virtual Spaces cited security concerns about how much data Niantic can access about players through the game's servers. Other sources, including the BBC, have indicated that the ban came as a result of failed negotiations between Iran and Niantic about new terms for the game's presence.

A group of Pokemon cosplayers took to the streets with oversized (and soft!) Pokeballs to try to catch some of the Pokemon Go players trying to catch them. Everyone looks like they're having a great time, even the guy at the beginning, a 'staged' introduction to the rest. Give yourself a good Friday chuckle.


New Jersey Homeowner Files Lawsuit Against Niantic

A New Jersey homeowner has filed a lawsuit against Niantic and Nintendo for placing a Pokestop on his property without his consent. The man alleges that several players have approached his door to ask for access to his backyard. The suit seeks to become a class action where the New Jersey resident will represent a collective group if the lawsuit proceeds.

A Brooklyn Pokemon Go player has managed to do exactly what every PG players wants: He has literally caught all 142 Pokemon in North America. The 28-year-old says that, despite working 50 hours a week, he managed to walk 95 miles, lost 10 pounds and catch all possible Pokemon.


EBay Sees Rise of Pokemon Go Accounts for Sale

Pokemon Go players are finding lucrative ways to cash in on the game's fever pitch of excitement around the world by 'flipping' accounts on Ebay. A cursory glance at Ebay reveals accounts being sold for around $40 (with 30 bids!) for account level 14 and everything up to and including one for just over $1,100 at level 23 with 87 Pokemons, upgraded bag space, storage and "plenty of rare Pokemons".


Japan to Feature 3000 McDonald's Sponsored PokeGyms

When Pokemon Go launches in Japan tomorrow, it will be the first country to feature sponsored PokeGyms, notably three thousand McDonald's locations throughout the nation. It is likely that this is a test ground for the rest of the world and a larger sponsorship by the fast food giant. Japanese are apparently down with it as McDonald's sales have increased dramatically with the arrival of Pokemon Happy Meals in recent weeks.
