Chicago 'Fest' Attendees Suing Niantic After Weekend Fiasco

Last weekend, Pokemon Go fans gathered in Chicago for the inaugural "Fest" event and were met with a slew of issues making the game unplayable for nearly the entirety of the event. According to the suit's organizer, Chicago attorney Thomas Zimmerman, many fans would like to have travel costs reimbursed after coming to the event from out of state or even out of the country. So far, plaintiffs number "20 or 30" according to Zimmerman, a number that is likely to grow as news of the suit spreads.


Legendary Critters to Start Appearing This Weekend..Maybe

To coincide with this weekends Pokemon Go Fest, legendary Pokemon will start being seen in the world. According to the official site, players can start looking for these elusive creatures on Saturday, July 22nd IF the folks in Chicago can defeat the very first one. Once done, Legendary Eggs will appear in gyms around the world.


Niantic Reveals Worldwide Events

As part of the one year anniversary celebration of Pokemon Go, Niantic has revealed a number of "live" events taking place around the world this summer. Non-attendees need not worry either. There will be tie-in events for trainers unable to attend a live event too.


Celebrate Year 1 with Pikachu Wearing Ash's Hat

Pokemon Go has been ramping up to today's official first anniversary with a number of things including the overhauled Gym system and the newly added raids. Today marks the start of another celebratory event. From today through July 24th, wild Pikachu will be wearing Ash's famous hat. It is the same hat he wears in the anime series. In addition, Anniversary Boxes will be available that contain Incubators, Max Revives, Ultra Balls and Raid Passes.


Updated Gyms Today, Raiding Coming in the Next Few Weeks

Beginning today, Niantic will begin rolling out a big new (and much welcomed) addition to Pokemon Go. After closing Poke Gyms last week, they will reopen today with big new changes including the ability for players to house up to six of their Pokemon in friendly gyms.


New Game Event, Future Plans & Chicago Live Event Revealed

Niantic has big plans for the summer including its first birthday event, a live event in Chicago and the promise of "exciting new features" coming to Pokemon Go very soon.


The 'Egg'stravaganza to Hatch Later Today

The Pokemon Go site has been updated with the news that the game's next event, The Eggstravaganza, is ready to roll later today. Beginning at 1:00 pm Pacific / 4:00 pm Eastern and running through April 20th, players will find a "greater variety of Pokemon in 2km eggs". In addition, more Candy will be earned for every egg that hatches.


Making a Splash with Friends by Finding Water-Type Critters

Pokemon Go players will have a greater chance than ever to get hold of elusive water-type Pokemon thanks to the arrival of the Global Water Festival that will run through March 29th. During the event, Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their evolutions will be more likely to be found as well as a chance at several originally found in the Johto Region including the elusive Lapras.


Gotta Catch Them All - New Pokemon & Features Coming

Pokemon Go team has put out a new blog post complete with special video to tell about a huge update coming to the game this week. More than 80 new Pokemon will make an appearance, among them Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. Niantic is also adding new features to the game.


Valentine's Day Event Begins

Pokemon Go players have a good excuse to get out walking with their Buddies with the start of the Valentine's Day event in the game. During the days between now and February 15th, players will be earning Candy twice as fast and an increase in available pink pals, Chansey, Clefable and others, will be out for capture. In addition, Igglybuff, Smoochum and Cleffa are more likely to hatch from eggs and Lure Modules will last for a whopping six hours each.


2016 Revenue Soars to an Estimated $950M

Pokemon Go, only in release for the last half of 2016, raked in what is estimated to be nearly $950M. The findings were announced via a special paid report at App Annie.


Physical Activity Not  Sustained According to BMJ Study

The BMJ, once known as the British Medical Journal, has published a new paper studying the global Pokemon Go phenomenon and has discovered that physical activity increased at first but was not sustained after six weeks. Over 1800 participants between 18 and 35 from the US took part using an iPhone 6 app to count daily steps.


New & Limited Time Pokemon Out in the Wild

Pokemon Go has been updated with the second series of critters for hunters to go capture. Included in today's update include ones found from Pokemon Gold and Silver such as Togepi and Pichu that will hatch from eggs. In addition, a special limited time Pokemon, Pikachu in a Santa hat, is available from now through December 29th. RUMOR: New Creatures, PvP & Trading Coming in December

According to Venture Beat, Pokemon Go will be getting a much awaited update in December that could be seen as an early Christmas gift. Reports indicate that Niantic is preparing a new update to the game that will include over a hundred normal and legendary Pokemon, PvP, ways to raise creatures hatched from eggs and, prepare yourself....trading between players. The information was obtained by mining through the game code by a scanner called PokeVS.


Niantic to Thank Players with Double XP & Stardust

Niantic is thanking players for their support of Pokemon Go through all the months since launch by rewarding Double XP and Double Stardust beginning on November 23rd and running through November 30th. "We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise" the team wrote in a blog post published today. "[W]e would like to say thank you - and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community."
