UPDATED: Miramar is PUBG's Upcoming Desert Map + Loot Boxes & the Cheating Battle - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - MMORPG.com

UPDATE: We have received an email update from PUBG Corp regarding new "limited-edition Cosmetic Packs":

Beginning tomorrow, December 7, in celebration of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ upcoming launch on Xbox One next Tuesday, December 12, the first of the three special, limited-edition cosmetic packs that we announced at Paris Games Week – the PUBG Warrior Pack – will become available to fans worldwide. The PUBG Accessory and PUBG Tracksuit packs will follow in short order, becoming available beginning December 14 and December 21 respectively.

The PUBG Warrior Pack includes four items: a balaclava hat, camo t-shirt, pants and tennis shoes to customize your character in style.

These packs are exclusive to Xbox fans as standalone offers available for a limited time and as there are no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version, are the only items that can be purchased during the preview period. Make sure to get yours while you can!

Both the Xbox team and PUBG Corp. have been working closely together to bring the hottest game on the planet to the Xbox Game Preview program and are super excited to be able to bring these soon to be rare cosmetic items to Xbox fans who have been eagerly awaiting the game as a special thank you for your patience and passion for PUBG.

In addition to The PUBG Warrior Pack being available, don’t forget to tune into The Game Awards, where thePUBG team will reveal the first-ever gameplay footage of PUBG’s new desert map live onstage and is also nominated for Game of the Year, Best Ongoing Game and Best Multiplayer Game. Those tuning in from home can watch on a variety of free streams starting at 5:30 PT / 8:30 ET on Thursday, December 7.

See below for cosmetic pack availability and pricing. The Warrior Pack will be available to purchase starting at 7 p.m. PST tomorrow and be among the first to grab it!

Limited-edition PUBG cosmetic packs

  • PUBG Warrior Pack available December 7-10 ($9.99 USD)
  • PUBG Accessory Pack available December 14-17 ($4.99 USD)
  • PUBG Tracksuit Pack available December 21-22 ($4.99 USD)

While it's been in the testing phase for months now, little has been revealed about the next map coming to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. That has all changed today thanks to an extensive post on the game's Steam page. The map is called Miramar and is set in the desert to give it a distinct look and feel from the Erangel map. Developers are hopeful that it will provide new ways to play where "the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required".

Miramar contains eight locations that each provide different game play features. For instance, Los Leones is a City Center and high vantage points perfect for sniping. Monte Nuevo gives players high walls around the town to enable exploration for goods and more.

These aren't the only fun places to visit, of course, but you will have to discover the rest of them on your own. Miramar will be playable during the final test round before PUBG hits version 1.0. When you get your hands on it, you can share your favorite moments, top plays and beautiful vistas from Miramar with us on Twitter and Facebook using #ThisIsBattleRoyale

Miramar is in its final testing phase and should be deployed before PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is updated to v1.0.

In other PUBG news, during the recently-held G-Star, PUBG Corp. CEO Changhan Kim revealed that there is a "relatively strong demand for cosmetic items" but that the company "would never add anything that affects the gameplay". Good news for fans who seem to be terribly burned out on the notion of loot boxes.

In addition, Kim admitted that the amount of cheating in PUBG caught the company offguard. "The number of different cheats we have encountered has far surpassed our expectations. We are aggressively addressing this issue as our top priority. There is a new team dedicated to this task, which has already demonstrated great results through tighter and improved policies as well as around the clock monitoring."
