A MILLION Accounts Banned in January Alone According to BattlEye - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - MMORPG.com

BattlEye is the anti-cheat program behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Its Twitter account was updated yesterday to inform the community that over a MILLION accounts were banned in January alone. It came with a caveat that, despite the bans, "things continue to escalate", though the assumption is that the company's efforts will scale alongside the escalation.

We have banned over 1,044,000 PUBG cheaters in January alone, unfortunately things continue to escalate.

The controversy swells a bit in comments to the Twitter post with players saying that some of the booted accounts were not players actually cheating (as always). Others say that the numbers say nothing if and until the accounts "are incapable of coming back".

Late last week, developers released a lengthy blog post on the PUBG Steam page to discuss efforts to implement further anti-cheat measures through patches. "We have established a dedicated team to focus on combating cheat programs and since our launch on early access, we have been committed to detecting and preventing such programs." the post reads.

An early version of the anti-cheat solution will be arriving on live servers "soon" with its main focus for blocking unauthorized programs expanding over the course of several months.

In addition, a number of other features will be incoming including:

  • in-game report function
  • file modification detection
  • account sharing detection
