Tencent Shutters PUBG Mobile in China & Releases 'Game for Peace' Battle Royale In Its Place

Tencent has shuttered the closed beta for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile in China, though the news isn't all gloom and doom. Players can transfer their accounts to Game for Peace that "pays tribute to the blue sky warriors that guard our country's airspace". Game for Peace has been developed specifically to get through China's strict games vetting process by scaling down violence, removing most blood effects and defeated players rising "to wave goodbye".

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Test Server Update Brings Weapon Mastery to Players

With today's latest Test Server update, PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds players can check out the Weapon Mastery System. This new addition allows players to "check gun stats and earn rewards as they "level up their gunplay skills". Each weapon features 100 levels for players to achieve. Rewards include weapon accessories called Charms, Medals, and Tier Emblems.


PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Celebrating Its 2nd Birthday by Giving Away Free Hats

No, they're not party hats, but everyone who logs into PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds will receive an anniversary ball cap in thanks for their support of the game for the last two years. Players simply "visit the in-game store and "purchase" the free item on PC or simply log in during the event dates on console". In addition, the PUBG team shared a special message from CH Kim, the company's CEO.


Brendan Greene Leaves PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Team for New Role

Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene, the original creator of PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds, has announced that he is leaving PUBG's development to concentrate on a new role in the PUBG Corp. Amsterdam office. He will be overseeing "Special Projects" that will be instrumental in researching new game types and with game development. "We are tasked with exploring, experimenting, and creating new technologies, tools, pipelines, and gameplay, but for me it is more than that." he wrote.


Devs Working on Big Changes to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Erangel Map & Loot

A brief post has appeared on the PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds site that acknowledges that PUBG Corp is hard at work on some significant changes coming to the game's maps and loot balance. Currently, the Erangel map is in the process of being retooled, something that is designed to keep older content as relevant as new content.


PUBG Corp Announces Horizon Zero Dawn Crossover for PlayStation 4

PUBG Corp has announced a a PlayStation 4 crossover collaboration with Horizon Zero Dawn. The Horizon Zero Dawn team will be creating four skins for players to collect by participating in the game in a number of ways. The event runs from March 5th to April 5th.


Player Unknown's Battlegrounds Takes Top Honors in the Steam Awards 2018

The votes have been counted and the results tabulated for this year's Steam Awards. The Game of the Year 2019 has been named as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds! PUBG beat out Monster Hunter World, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Hitman 2 to take top honors.


PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Now Lets You Play Vikendi Under the Aurora Borealis

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been updated to allow players to experience a winter wonderland under the colors of the Aurora Borealis thanks to the arrival of the "moonlight" weather setting. In addition, a new SMG, the Bizon, has been added and a "loot rebalance" has been deployed that increases AR spawn rates and reduces SMG, Level 3 helmet and Level 3 vest spawn rates.


PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile Fields as Many Players as Fortnite

According to PUBG Corp (via The Verge), PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds Mobile is fielding about 30M active daily users, the same as Fortnite does across all of its platforms. The company further reports that it has about 200M users altogether. In an interesting side note, the numbers that PUBG Corp is touting exclude China, which would likely send the player number count much higher therefore exceeding Fortnite's population.

Although Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has been around for well over a year now, its developers have been keeping its hardcore fanbase busy with plenty of great new features for the acclaimed battle royale title.


Vikendi is the New Map for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds & It's Out on December 19th

PUBG Corp. was on hand at last nights Game Awards 2018 with the news that a big new snow-themed map is coming to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Called Vikendi, the map was shown off in a brand new trailer and with the devs saying that snowmobiles and at least one new gun will be coming along with the map. Vikendi is already on the PUBG test server to try out ahead of its December 19th release on PC. The console versions of Vikendi will be out in January 2019.


PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to Launch on PS4 on December 7th

When PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launches on December 7th for PlayStation 4, those downloading the battle royale phenom will receive a free PS-exclusive gift in the form of the Pixel Art Parachute in celebration of the big day. PUBG has been fully optimized for PS4 and includes all of the content available on other platforms including the Erangel, Miramar and Sanhok maps. Players can also check out several pre-order bundles that come with the base game, bonuses, the Survivor pass and currency.
