PlanetSide 2 has been updated to bring a trio of new features into the game including three new weapons, continent events and the overhauled construction system.
Continent events are designed to "diversify battles" and to provide players with a set of new objectives that are parallel to the acquisition of territory control. "The first rollout includes the return of old facility alerts as events, and a new aerial anomaly event".
New weapons include Empire-specific Battle Rifles now being available for all classes, similar to the Empire-specific LMGs that came out earlier this year.
Lastly, the Construction System has been retooled:
- Three new construction objects have also been added:
- The Flail: An artillery piece that launches a barrage of anti-vehicle shells to a designated location.
- Pain Spire: A defensive tower that sets infantry alight if they get too close.
- Routing Spire: Acts as a terminal from which players can equip a deployable spawn point to use at other bases.
