A post has appeared on the PlanetSide 2 Reddit from now-former Creative Director Matt Higby indicating that he has left Daybreak Game Studio. Higby claims that he had been considering leaving Daybreak prior to the staff firings earlier this week and said that the timing, given these events, provides the opportunity.

PlanetSide 2 players broke a nearly-three year old Guiness World Record on January 24th when over eleven hundred players took part in a single FPS battle. The event was co-sponsored by Sony Online Entertainment and fan site PlanetSideBattles.

The closed beta for the PlayStation 4 version of PlanetSide 2 officially kicks off today, Tuesday, January 20th. Interested players can head to the PlanetSide 2 site to get signed up for possible inclusion in the closed beta.

With the beta for the Playstation 4 version of PlanetSide 2, we wanted to find out more what SOE has in store for players. We chatted with Executive producer Clint Worley to find out.

Sony Online Entertainment and the Planetside 2 team are celebrating two years of live service. The team has put together a great list of all the updates that the game has undergone in the past two years. In addition, the PS2 team will be hosting a special second anniversary live stream.

In a very short note on the PlanetSide 2 forum, Tramell Ray Isaac has announced that he is not only leaving the game project as Art Director, but also going to "another company". Bill Yeatts will be taking over Ray's spot.

This week Sony Online Entertainment announced plans to release Planetside 2's first new vehicle - fast attack gunship, the Valkyrie. The Valkyrie has a front-facing turret and can transport up to six soldiers (pilot, forward gunner and four passengers).

We had a chance to listen to Matt Higby and Tramell Isaac expound on some of what they’ve been working on over the last couple months with PlanetSide 2, and what we should expect to see in the next several months with the game.
