After a long and bumpy road, Pirate101 players can now step into ranked PvP game play with the deployment of the latest patch. There are two types of matches for players looking for rank: Battle Royale with four players taking part in "last man standing" type combat and 1vs1 matches pitting single players against one another.
Players can earn eight ranks through victory: Contender, Brawler, Warrior, Gladiator, Veteran, Hero, Paragon and Champion. Losses will, however, decrease a player's rank. Scrip is rewarded for wins that can then be traded for housing items, pets, or gear.
This patch also brings the new "Nautical Gauntlet" for players level 45+ to run with three friends that can yield "smuggled Wizard City goods" or pets.
Players can also speed up combat animations through a new setting in Gameplay Options, though each player's "yar" setting only affects their character.
