Goblinworks' first newsletter is filled with tons of information for fans who want to know more about how the settlement system works in Pathfinder Online.

Early Access Review in Progress #3

I think next week, yes in the midst of E3, I’ll finally put a wrap on this project and assign a score to Pathfinder Online as it stands now. But let me start this week by saying that fresh of The Witcher 3 and another Early Access game known as ARK: Survival Evolved makes Pathfinder feel even less finished. PFO can be enjoyable, it can… but the more I play it the less I can recommend investing your own money in the River Kingdoms for now.

Early Enrollment Patch Rolls Out

The v8.2 early enrollment patch for Pathfinder Online has been deployed and comes packed with content. Of significant note is the overhauled New Player Experience, changes and additions to outposts and holding, company "feuds", the introduction of elementals, and a bit about recruitment and buddy keys.

Review in Progress #2: Misguided Player Agency

A couple weeks back, we began our review in progress for Pathfinder Online, since it’s both a.) in early access and b.) not wiping progress anymore. The review will be going on hiatus for a couple of weeks while I review The Witcher 3, but nevertheless this week I have some additional thoughts as I make my way through Goblinworks’ sandbox MMORPG.

Early Enrollment Review in Progress

We didn’t think we’d be reviewing Pathfinder Online anytime soon… until we discovered the game is both a.) taking money and b.) done wiping progress. As mentioned many times here, that’s all we need to consider a game ready to be reviewed. If a studio is confident enough in a product to do both of those things, then we’re confident that it deserves a score and review. Read on for the beginning of our Pathfinder Online adventures.

CEO Encouraging Recruitment

Goblinworks CEO Ryan Dancey has once again posted a controversial forum note encouraging current backers of Pathfinder Online to get out and recruit more players to the game. Dancey gives readers several suggestions of places for players to recruit others to the cause.

Help Determine the Future of Shrine Camping

Goblinworks' CEO Ryan Dancey has taken to the Pathfinder Online forum to ask players for assistance regarding the issue of shrine camping. In his brief post, Dancey indicates that there are legitimate reasons that shrine camping is acceptable, but realizes that it can also cause issues even in a PvP-centric game world.

Head Start Access Announced, Begins April 1st

Ryan Dancey has posted on the Pathfinder Online site that a new phase of Early Enrollment will begin on April 1st. Called "Head Start", players can access the game for a $30 price tag that also includes a month of game time. Dancey clarifies that this is not the beginning of Open Enrollment, but is a new phase of the Early Enrollment program. Head Start was added due to server capacity exceeding expectations that allows more players to take part.

The latest Pathfinder Online blog has been posted that lets Early Enrollment players know that the Influence System will be deployed with the March 26th update. Influence is gained when progress towards an achievement is earned and it can be used by Companies to gain control of or construct Holdings.

Early Enrollment = New Base Camps and Smallholdings

As of February 21, Pathfinder Online released the Early Enrollment 4.1 and along with that update, a range of new deployable structures.

Early Access First Look

In last week’s column I discussed the games that I look forward to the most in 2015. I caught some heat from readers over the lack of MMORPGs on the list. At the beginning of 2014 if I had to project what I would look forward to the most in 2015 Shroud of the Avatar and Pathfinder Online would have both been on that list. So what changed? This week I’m checking in on the development of Pathfinder Online and I’ll talk about why it missed my list of most anticipated for 2015.
