Brad McQuaid, EverQuest and Pantheon Developer, Has Passed Away - MMORPG.com

Brad McQuaid, a legendary game designer who worked on EverQuest, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and most recently Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, has passed away according to a tweet on the official Pantheon Twitter.

Largely associated with his time as a developer on the EverQuest, though his influence has touched many games. Founding Sigil Games, McQuaid worked on Vanguard before moving on to found Visionary Realms. There he has been actively working on Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

News of his death was announced both on Twitter, as well as through a forum post on the Pantheon forums.

"It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we share that Brad McQuaid, Chief Creative Officer of Visionary Realms passed away in his home last night.

Brad was a visionary, a mentor, an artist, a trailblazer, a friend, a husband, a father. He touched thousands of lives with his dreams and concepts. He changed the landscape of video games forever. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in life and in Pantheon.

Thank you, Brad, for bringing us together through your worlds. Rest in peace, Aradune.

All of us at Visionary Realms offer our deepest condolences to Brad’s family and during this most difficult time, we kindly ask that you respect the privacy of Brad’s family."

John Smedley, former president of Daybreak Game Company, formerly Sony Online Entertainment, and who worked with McQuaid on EverQuest, paid tribute to McQuaid on Twitter today.

We here at MMORPG also send along our deepest condolences to Brad's family, as well as his industry colleagues and fans of his work.
