Bill Murphy sent along this tidbit of information straight from Blizzcon: Prior to the commencement of Overwatch beta testing, per-hero progression similar to that found in Heroes of the Storm was removed as it "goes against the idea they want about players being able to swap heroes on the fly."

Razer has announced the release of a trio of Overwatch themed peripherals: DeathAdder gaming mouse, BlackWidow keyboard and Goliathus Extended mouse mat. To celebrate the announcement, Razer has released a video showing each of them in action during an Overwatch match.

While Blizzard is staying mum on the subject pending tomorrow's Blizzcon start, GameStop is reporting that Overwatch will not be free to play but will be released on XBox One, PlayStation 4 and PC for $60.

Blizzard has unlocked the Overwatch servers so that specially flagged accounts can now download and install the game. There is no NDA so players are allowed to stream and write about their experiences in Blizzard's first foray into the shooter genre.

In somewhat unexpected news, Blizzard has announced that both the North American and European Overwatch beta event will kick off on Tuesday, October 27th. Originally, the beta start was to be NA only, but Blizzard revealed late last week that the EU version would start simultaneously.

Blizzard has announced that Battle.net voice chat will be available for testing during the Overwatch beta. The Battle.net voice chat will only be enabled for Overwatch (for now) and according to the FAQ, the studio has yet to determine which games will support the feature in the future.

Blizzard has announced that the Overwatch beta will kick off on Tuesday, October 27th and that interested players can get signed up for possible inclusion beginning today. Devs will be looking for feedback about balance, fun and the overall feel of the game. In addition, the goal is to "hammer the heck out of our tech" by stress-testing servers and more.

Overwatch fans rejoice! A special beta preview event has been scheduled for this week on Thursday, October 15th from 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern. The stream is anticipated to last for ninety minutes and is being hosted by a pair of streamers who will be broadcasting the event for the duration.

The Overwatch YouTube channel has been updated with a brand new video that introduces the world to The Junkers, a pair of ultra bad boys bent on world destruction.
