Scottgun writes: People always ask how some of us can pre-order games without knowing much about them and aren't we contributing to the evil hype-machine. The simple answer in my case is that I've been playing video games for a long time and have developed good instincts for what games I will like and which to pass on. In fact, pre-ordering a game without knowing all the details is to me a kind of game within a game: betting on my instincts and the fun of being an early adopter. Most of the time my guesses have been spot on. Sometimes it's stinker. In the case of No Man's Sky I rolled snake eyes. The Honest Trailer sums it up nicely: it's a "feature-rich screen saver" and my nomination for biggest disappointment of the decade and rivals Daikatana in infamy. Sat Aug 27 2016 2:44PM

wizter writes: Another over hyped title that hardly delivers what was promised. After a mere handful of hours (made it to 3 planets in less than 12hrs gameplay) NMS has become a chore to play, plagued by endless grinding, repetitiveness and not much else. I have achieved a dozen of milestones so far, met 2 aliens and yet on day 4 I crave way more to get back into subnautica rather than NMS. That says it all. Disappointed. (PS: Despite the plethora of reports, I personally have had no problems with the game so far other than after a few hours continuous play a noticeable framerate drop, which a restart fixes). (PPS: No Man's Sky shouldn't even be on the MMORPG list, as it is not an MMO as per se; it doesn't even support multi-player (yet?), certainly not a centralised persistent universe in any sense... it's all random procedurally generated, unlike Elite or Eve as two examples for comparison) Fri Aug 19 2016 10:58AM
