Hello Games has announced a new update for No Man’s Sky, entitled Desolation. Fans that are familiar with No Man’s Sky and the way they procedurally generate content will be happy to hear that Hello Games is keeping with that design decision with procedurally-generated freighters that players can find throughout the universe.
Space explorers rejoice, for the time of derelict ship exploration is at hand. In No Man’s Sky’s Desolation update, learning what happened to the crew of these procedurally generated freighters is only the beginning. You will be battling through instances of the ship’s security protocols going haywire, and you will need to stay alive as the life support systems have all but been assured to have failed long before your arrival. You may even find that aliens have infested the ship, and in order to unlock the freighters secrets, you will have to battle your way through these infestations to reap the rewards nestled inside the ship’s inner sanctums. You can check out the update trailer below and a more in depth list of features the Desolation update has to offer on Hello Games’ announcement page, here.
With unique stories, improved combat, upgraded visuals, freighter customizations, and tons of upgrades to earn along the way No Man’s Sky’s Desolation update is shaping up to be another fantastic addition to a game that has grown exponentially after a somewhat shaky launch.
