Bluehole Studios and Kakao Games have announced a brand new MMO called Ascent: Infinite Realm, or "A:IR". The first closed beta test is being prepared for 2018. The MMO was announced during the Bluehole G-Star 2017 pre-event in South Korea.

Yesterday, ArenaNet announced that new "Mount Adoption Licenses" are now available at the Guild Wars 2 Black Lion Trading Company. For 400 Gems, players receive "an available animal at random". Every box is said to contain a unique breed, though players are unable to purchase specific versions. Rather the "drop" from the purchase is randomized. This latter fact has set the community on fire with the GW2 Reddit thread on the subject beating out previous "top threads" from the past.

You may be thinking that because I asked whether or not Destiny 2 was a mistake that I don't like the game. On the contrary, amid the sheer chaos that is this year's game release schedule, Destiny 2 is one of a few I keep coming back to time and again. Finally on the PC, Bungie's Sci-Fantasy MMO-like shooter is something special. Not without its faults, Destiny 2 feels right at home on the PC and the future's looking bright. During today's press event, NCSoft announced "their next-gen flagship PC MMORPG" called Project TL. According to IvenGlobal, this is the next game in the Lineage series and is being developed using the Unreal Engine 4. Some of the features include dynamic weather, terrain and destructible buildings. This is apparently a reworked, or perhaps simply renamed, Lineage Eternal.

A:IR, or Ascend: Infinite Realm, was just fully revealed ahead of G-STAR 2017. Being made by Bluehole Studio (TERA) and brought west by Kakao Games (Black Desert), it looks to have everything an MMORPG fan desires. RVR combat, complex crafting, housing, customizable airships, pets, deep classes, a massive world, player-made quests, and so forth. Could it be that the first big AAA MMORPG to hit the West in years will come out of South Korea?
