Last week, Sigil Games Online, the company responsible for developing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, was acquired by Sony Online Entertainment, the company that had previously been co-publishing the game. SOE has announced that they do not plan on making any major changes to the game, but will be working to see its performance improved.

Blizzard Entertainment, the company behind the wildly successful MMORPG, World of Warcraft unveiled their newest game-in-development. While there was rampant speculation that this game could be an MMORPG version of either the Diablo or Starcraft, franchise, the company announced Starcraft 2, an RTS follow-up to the original.

More news out of Second Life this week, as Reuters reported that a UK panel is urging governments to start treating virtual currencies in the same manner as real life money to help combat fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion.

Archived Review: DDO
In May of 2006, reviewed Turbine's Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach. Our reviewer gave the game a 7.3, with the highest marks coming in the categories of Graphics (9) and Sound (8).

This week's Game of the Week is Guild Wars. The game, rated one of the top MMORPGs by the users here at, has enjoyed great success in North America and beyond.
Recently, it was announced that ArenaNet would be developing Guild Wars 2, the follow-up to the original that will take place in the game world's future. This new game will add new races and other features to the franchise. The game is expected to enter Beta testing some time in 2008.

Sigil Games Online launched their MMORPG Vanguard: Saga of Heroes on January 30th, 2007, which means that the company operated the game for a total of 106 days (or just under 1/3 of a year) before it was acquired on May 15th by Sony Online Entertainment.
