Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: First Look Preview

Jon Wood recently traveled to San Diego to take part in an event for the upcoming MMORPG, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. At that event, reporters were treated to a hands-on experience with the game and on November 1st, MMORPG.com published his Vanguard First-Look Preview. Below, you will find a few excerpts.

  • The first thing that struck me about this game when I sat down to play was the general look of it. I don't just mean graphics, either. I find the overall art style of this game to be very appealing.
  • The quests in this game seem well designed and well put together. My only real complaints are in some of the little housekeeping issues.
  • Dark Elves are actually deliciously malicious and evil. In every interaction that my Dark Elf character had in her early days of exploration, I was immersed in the kill or be-killed attitude of the people.
  • Vanguard has all of the elements that have the potential to make it a hit game; an engaging story, a good consistent artistic style, strong quests and innovative systems. Most importantly, the early parts of the game make a player want to play more, to improve and continue to climb in whatever mode of advancements they should choose.

Game of the Week

Game of

the week

This week's Game of the Week has just turned one-year old. City of Villains was created as a companion game to the already released City of Heroes. On October 31st, the multitude of CoH Heroes were joined and matched equally by their dastardly counterparts.

Known for detailed character creation and a unique loot system, the City of X franchise has seen the release of eight separate expansions and shows no sign of stopping, even after the announcement that Cryptic Studios, the folks responsible for the creation of both games, would be building the competition as they take on the task of creating the second superhero franchise.
