On March 8th (Wednesday), SEED, the upcoming MMORPG from Runestone Game Development, announced the release date for their game. As of now, the game is set to officially debut on Tuesday, May the 2nd of this year. This is a slight delay from what was originally thought, but Runestone says that the delay was necessary in order to insure that the game would be “high-quality”.

It bugs me when developers make leveling and such slow so that you have to keep playing so much to get to the end game. Also I am bugged by subscription fees, though I understand why they exist, they still bother me that they need to be that high: $15 per person times (how many for World of Warcraft?) yeah... lots of money, I doubt they need that much from each person that plays to run the servers.

This week, our very own Lead Content Editor, Dana Massey had a chance to sit down with Star Trek Online’s Producer, Daron Stinnett for a brief question and answer session. The two talked about the upcoming game, and Perpetual’s plans for it. At the same time, we have released two brand new screenshots from the game. With hype for this game already going wild, you can imagine that plenty of people on our boards have made this one an interesting discussion:.

  • Very nice! I am looking forward to the release of this game. Finally something different than orcs, and humans and wizardry.. which is fine.. but I'm ready for a change. – Patriot91
  • Can't make too much out of these screen shots, but it looks like they are going with the TNG look and later, especially since they talk of 'borg direlict', so I guess that means I won't be playing this game since there is only one Star Trek to me, and that's the original series and everything else is just a cheap copy with the 'Star Trek' label on it. - Chernvog
  • There are many questions that must be asked about perpetuals plans for this game. A few are: Why a lack of pvp combat at start as many people as indecated in a poll held by PE has shown that the players want PVP? If you are going to make it starfleet only at first how do you plan on balanceing races for future expansions if the game survives that long? Why recently has PE been ignoreing the trek community in general? – Starbuck1771

Game of the Week

Game of the week

This week we are keeping with our theme of new games and highlighting the recently added 9 Dragons as our Game of the Week.

When the game debuted on MMORPG.com on March the 7th, it did so with quite the buildup. Not only did we present you, our readers, with some screenshots to give you an introduction, but we also gave you an interview with the CEO of Acclaim, Howard Marks.

The game itself is based on Chinese martial arts, and promises to immerse players in a "fantasy world of ruthless clans, epic battles and fights for the survival of China." Our own overview of the game is meant to give players some of the history behind the game:

"After more than 3 years of development and with more than $10 million of development cost, 9Dragons is a breakthrough in game play and graphics quality. Developed by award winning Indy21 team, this game is destined to set a new standard for MMORPGs."
