Featured Article: World of Warcraft - What's to Come in Patch 3.0 World of Warcraft Correspondent Alex Howells takes a look at Patch 3.0, the lead-in update for the newest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King.

With Wrath of the Lich King (also known as WotLK) seemingly a few months away from release, it would have surprised many World of Warcraft players to hear that another major content patch is to be released prior to the expansion. This week's game of the week is Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

WAR is based on the Warhammer fantasy setting of the popular miniature battle game from Games Workshop.

Warhammer began development when Mythic Entertainment, the guys behind Dark Age of Camelot, acquired the Warhammer license back in 2005. Since then the game has consistently been one of the most talked about games in development, setting up a rivalry between WAR and the heavily publicized Age of Conan for the title of biggest MMO of 2008. While the debate rages on, it should heat up later this week as Warhammer Online is scheduled for launch on September 18th.

Did You Know?
Did you know that there was a previous attempt to create an MMO using the Warhammer IP? The game was originally being developed by a company called Climax Online but the project was scraped back in 2004 when development costs increased and funding for the project declined.
