A Letter From The Editor

Greetings One and All!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say hello to everyone and to give you all an update on some of the interesting things going on here at MMORPG.com and in the industry as a whole.

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a number of events:

One of those events was the launch party for Sigil’s Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. The event not only served as a launching pad for the new game, but was first and foremost the kickoff to a traveling art exhibit dedicated to the work and life of fantasy artist Keith Parkinson.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online recently held an event of their own in San Francisco. On top of a fencing tournament and a traveling museum, we were also given a peek at the game, which certainly captures the Disney feel. Keep an eye out at MMORPG.com this week for full details.

Speaking of launches and keeping your eyes on MMORPG.com, this week, of February 7th, we will see the launch of the MGame USA title, Scions of Fate. The game has been generating a good deal of buzz in our community, and MMORPG.com recently gave away a number of Beta Keys for the game. You can learn more about it by clicking here.

Game of the Week

Game of

the week

Our game of the week this week goes to a game that has, until recently, been rather silent. Pirates of the Caribbean Online stands in the spotlight this week after a successful press event in San Francisco that gave reporters an idea of how this game was coming together.

Set for a launch in the Spring of 2007, Pirates of the Caribbean offers players a chance to pop into the fantastical world of the now-familiar hit movies to create their own legends. While, as an MMORPG, players will not be able to play as characters like Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swan, those familiar faces do make appearances.

As a family-oriented game, some elements (like combat) are slightly different from the MMORPG norm, as Disney attempts to re-create the fun and sense of adventure that fans have come to expect from the first two films.

You can learn more about Pirates of the Caribbeanhere.
