Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning: Review
While not an MMO, 38 Studios' Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is of interest to our readers. This is largely due to the future release of Copernicus, an MMORPG set in the same world as Reckoning.

A lot of talk has been centered on endless comparisons to Bethesda's Skyrim. It seems a bit unfair, to be honest, as the only thing the two have in common is the fact that they are single player role playing games. The art and game play styles are quite different, each appealing to, I believe, different sorts of players. Those only looking for a gritty, realistic experience will probably prefer Skyrim. Those most interested in a less realistic world with easy-on-the-eye graphics will prefer Reckoning. Most can appreciate the differences and enjoy both.

The Secret World: Wondrous or Worrisome?
The Secret World is one of those games that players are overjoyed about or cautiously optimistic about or simply downright pessimistic all the way 'round. Are the reasons for these feelings justified?

Look, as one who attended the first Secret World press event, I can tell you that I left Montreal with a good, albeit basic, understanding of the game and how exciting it is going to be when it finally hits store shelves (metaphorically speaking, of course!). Even though I knew that I was only seeing what Funcom wanted me to see and that the parts of the game we were playing were polished to a high degree, I knew that if Funcom could do this well with this much, they could certainly pull it off for the game as a whole. I believed it then. I believe it now.

Game of the Week
RIFT is a fantasy MMORPG developed and published by Trion Worlds. In RIFT, the world of Telara is being invaded by six different planes (fire, earth, air, water, life, death) through tears in the world called "Rifts." Players fighting for either the Guardian or Defiant factions are tasked with keeping the planar forces at bay in order to save Telara and drive back the forces of the game's villain, Regulos, the dragon god of extinction.

The aforementioned rifts make up the game's dynamic content features, as the rifts can open up in any part of the game world. The forces that spill out of these rifts will seek to spread their influence throughout the game world and even take over territory, leaving both a tangible and visible mark upon the game world.

RIFT also features the "Soul Attunement" system, which essentially allows players to multi-class. Different souls are acquired throughout the course of the game and up to three can be arranged at a time to create a build. Builds can be stored for use in several loadouts, allowing players to prepare different builds for different situations.
