This week's Game of the Week is Blizzard's 800lb. Gorilla, World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft launched in November, 2004, bringing to life the world of Azeroth, which is based on Blizzard's incredibly popular Warcraft RTS series.

The game has since enjoyed unprecedented success in the genre, boasting over 11 million players, and has stood the test of time by enduring the launches of many other AAA MMOG's while still remaining the game to beat. With two expansions under its belt, Blizzard is showing no signs of slowing down, as they work towards the game's third expansion, Cataclysm, which is expected to launch sometime this year.

As the months roll onward, information and media from the upcoming expansion has been flowing out at a steady pace. More recently, Blizzard previewed the post-Cataclysm version of Azshara, and unveiled the Deathwing-styled Murlocalyptic in-game pet that World of Warcraft fans who managed to score tickets to Blizzcon will receive.
