The big change in the future of Zenith: The Last City has been revealed. Ramen VR announced Zenith Nexus, containing both the existing VR MMORPG and Zenith: Infinite Realms, a new free to play procedural action-adventure RPG with a seasonal model.
There is a lot to take in, but for those who enjoy and love Zenith: The Last City, it’s not going anywhere. If you play, you can continue playing, you will maintain all of your progress and the open-world MMORPG will continue to be available for purchase at the same price, as a DLC. Anyone who already owns the game will keep it and all characters, items, and progress made.
"We pored over the player data and written feedback, noting where players spent most of their time and where they were churning (leaving the game, never to return again). We observed the direction of the VR market and its growing younger audience," in deciding how to shape the new direction.
The new F2P game on the way, Zenith: Infinite Realms is described in the big announcement as “A new season-based free to play procedural action-adventure RPG with co-op sessions, a revamped locomotion system that pushes the boundaries of immersive play, redesigned social playground and more!” There will be more in-depth looks at this new game soon. With the addition of a new free to play co-op game, there are some notable changes on the way too.
A new currency is coming - Zennies. With a F2P game about to open, of course there will be an in-game shop and the offerings within will grow. Regular and seasonal content will be available for Zennies. Since Ramen VR was facing difficult decisions and bringing in more revenue is a must since the CEO admitted they had been running at a loss, this makes sense.
You can still buy the VR MMO right now and play it, and the team is also considering some sort of reward for those who bought the game before Infinite Realms launches. Considering this is a big change, they’re planning to let Zenith: The Last City have an opportunity to boost their first character in Infinite Realms up to their prior character level. They’ll also be gifting one paid cosmetic for free. They’re planning other ways to reward their loyal players and their time and investment in Zenith, and they're looking to make sure both experiences stay enjoyable.
