Zenith: The Last City will get its next major update soon, with 1.3 set to add new systems entirely, overhaul some older ones, introduce player housing, and much more.
Over the past week, the Ramen VR team has begun dripping out teases over social media. These include short gameplay and introduction clips for the Cyber Ninja, a new class that was actually announced a while back in 2022. The Cyber Ninja’s bow preview shows some of what we can expect from the class in combat, so those who’ve been looking forward to ranged bow combat in VR in Zenith should look forward to this one.
A separate Cyber Ninja gameplay preview shows the class in action in other ways, including more bow combat, aiming, striking, and what it looks like to hit your targets. There’s also a look at melee combat here, with a pair of short bladed weapons, the kama, that look like scythes. In another video, the focus is entirely on combat with the kamas.
There's more to the preview than just the new Cyber Ninja class, as the major update is bringing a lot of changes, including an overhaul to core combat. Some of these changes include being able to dodge and block, as well as stealth elements. These changes are designed to add some new flow to combat, and to introduce some additional strategic techniques.
The latest preview is all about the new lifeskills coming, showing off chopping some trees, collecting ore, and farming. Zenith is adding these skills and some more layers to the gameplay. After all, having these types of skills, like resource gathering, and the crafting that already exists in Zenith, enrich the experience for those who want to engage with them.
Ramen VR is clearly broadening the scope of Zenith: The Last City, and this patch is in pre-alpha. These previews come ahead of the free update that is coming when Zenith becomes one of the PlayStation VR 2 launch titles when it is out next Wednesday.
