Zenith: The Last City’s next major update, “Might and Mastery” is coming. The update that will revamp the whole skill system, add leaderboards, change godstones, and add a number of fixes and quality of life changes.
Today, the Zenith team held a special beta load test, giving those who were able to hang around for at least 30 minutes during the test a special character title, Mighty. If you are a beta tester for Zenith, and you play for at least two hours, you'll also be able to get a character title, “Skill Issue”. Both of those titles will be out when the update launches.
Zenith is adding leaderboards in the Skyland base camp. This new leaderboard system is the first of the game and will display the best of the best from various categories. In the preview teaser for the system, we see criteria like “World Boss: Sae Jiko kills”, “Creature Catching: Creatures Caught”, and “Raid: Sae Jiko time”. Each of these categories comes with a reset time, so you'll be able to aim for the leaderboards and some glory before the next reset.
Perhaps the biggest part of this update will be the completely new overhauled skill tree system. Instead of just passively unlocking new godstones, the new skill tree will show you the journey as you level up and you'll be able to explore different godstone abilities before you decide on them. You'll be able to see your path visually. Sometimes two godstones will fit in one particular slot, and you can pick the path that you want to go on because each will diverge.
Speaking of diverging, abilities will each have their own branches and nodes. All of this is designed not only to make character progression a more visual and immersive experience, but it's also enabling a number of different playstyles and customization options. Ramen VR makes sure to note that respec options will be available.
If you already have characters in Zenith, when the update goes live all of their skills will be converted to the new system and you will get points that you will then get to invest any way you want.
Also in the update are a number of feature updates and tweaks. Skyland gets some early game tuning passes, including a reworked main story quest and rewards. The Lake Ruins Boss is now a world event, there are improvements to the crafting area, new video panels and a new tutorial, better grappling hook anchor paths, and much more to improve player experience.
There’s no release date just yet for the update, but you can see more details over at Zenith: The Last City .
