The Zenith: The Last City team has announced the upcoming Rings & Ruins update, and a number of server closures that will happen this week.

Rings & Ruins, reflects the first time that the Zenith team is calling their next update an “update” instead of dividing it into major and minor patches. In this update, expect a brand new area that will be unlocked within skylands, new pets, a new chapter in the Skylands storyline that will feature two new characters, new public events, fixes, and more stuff to check out.

If you had a chance to explore Skyland already, the wall will shift and a brand new region to explore that will contain new aerial challenges and new quests will open up with the update. This will coincide with that new chapter in the Skylands storyline and the new characters to meet.

There are a number of feature updates, including a rework of how the godstone cooldowns work so that you can switch them in combat.  When you switch, the cooldown will carry over to the new one you've chosen.

There will be three new public events in the update, and one of them will be a Payload public event type. As a team, work together to escort and defend an objective through the zone and towards the final destination while you fight off attacks. If you've played this type of event objective before, this should be familiar–except that it is in VR.

A couple of player experience improvements will be added, including recentering the world map when it opens. Another one coming is a guard to prevent player data loss when you log in if there is any reason the data is unreadable. If this happens, you won't be able to log in and you'll be prompted to contact support.

The update announcement comes with the release of an early build on the PTR, so if you want to dive into check out some of the new features, you can jump in If you play the game on a supported platform.

The Ramen VR team also announced several server closures in the name of boosting population on the ones that remain. Since no players are locked to any particular region or server, the transition should be smooth. The closures will take place on July 14th.
