With the World of Warcraft Shadowlands pre-expansion live on Test right now, it looks like a zombie plague has taken over.

This Scourge Invasion event basically infects players and turns them into ghouls of sorts. Players then have a short time to find the Argent Healer before they’re fully turned into a zombie. As one player remarked on Twitter,

“This is a lot of fun! Although from the perspective of Roleplayers, who use the capital cities for RP - Will these ghoul-attacks be ongoing 24/7 for the full prepatch event, or will it only happen periodically?”

Jeremy Feasel, the Principle Game Designer at Blizzard, replied,

“It cycles this time instead of being up all the time. Players can only become zombies via NPCs for a bit every couple of hours, but if they want to keep the zombie train rolling during the down time, they can via player actions.”

The WoW subreddit is filled with players having figured out how to expand this zombie plague outside the boundaries of the cities. Response has been largely positive as this fan-favorite event makes its way back to Azeroth. Be sure to check out our impressions of the beta right here.
