Microsoft may have just leaked exactly when we can expect the Xbox Series X. For a brief time today, several regional websites were updated to read “Coming Thanksgiving” instead of “Coming Holiday 2020.” As of this writing, all of the sites seem to be corrected and unified under the “holiday” tag.
With how quickly the sites were updated to remove the specific date, it seems likely that this was an unintentional leak. At the same time, it may be sheer prudence which lead Microsoft to avoid announcing a specific launch date. While companies are clearly comfortable pushing launch dates for a multitude of reasons (something that is almost universally to the benefit of gamers in the end), the current pandemic is already causing supply shortages that directly impact the consumer electronics industry. At this point, it would be wise to take any launch date for the Xbox Series X or the PlayStation 5 with a handful of salt.
Still, hot on the heels of the recent console unveiling, gamers are hungry for more. We’ll be sure to update you with details as they arise.
