To celebrate Final Fantasy XIV finally coming over to Xbox in a week, Microsoft is giving away a one-of-a-kind Xbox Series X console outfitted for the MMO.
One major problem for those eager to power up the MMO on their Cyrstal-themed console: It doesn't work.

As spotted by Kotaku, the beautiful-looking Xbox Series X console doesn't actually work and is meant to be showcased as an "art piece." This is no where to be seen on the Tweet announcing the sweepstakes, or any of the parts of the contest page people will actually read, but instead buried in the fine print.
It's an absolutely breathtaking console, and it's a shame it won't actually work. I love the FFXIV styling, it's making me want to attune to Xbox for fast travel back to my gaming corner. The controller also looks incredible, and I hope they start selling those separately.
If you're feeling a little burned by the fact that Xbox is giving away a non-functional console, worry not—you'll get a working one as well if you win. Additionally, the sweepstakes holders are giving away a copy of the MMO on the new platform and a 12-month membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which is necessary to play FFXIV on Xbox, in addition to the MMO's own subscription fee).
Final Fantasy XIV is finally launching on Xbox Series S|X after a decade of console exclusivity on PlayStation next week, though the open beta (for new players only) is currently ongoing.
