Wuthering Waves, Kuro Games’ free to play, open world action RPG, has launched on PlayStation 5 today, along with a 2.0 update on all platforms that significantly expands the game.
The arrival on PS5 means cross-play and cross- progression. Data is shared with PC and mobile, so you can play on any device you want. The PlayStation 5 version launches with all previous updates, along with the new 2.0 update.
The version 2.0 update introduces new content, new features, a new region to explore, new characters, bosses, gameplay improvements, and some optimizations and balance. The update also introduces character skins for the first time, opening up cosmetics in the game. It’s the new region, with eight areas, new characters, and new features that are the highlights of this huge update.
The new region, Rinascita, is made up of independent city-states and there are eight areas to explore. The nation is also given the nickname “Land of Echoes” since traditions and widespread use of Echoes are everywhere.
Wutheriing Waves' new story content will take you through the various areas in the nation. Additional new open world gameplay elements that will enable you to explore the new zones. One of them is a flight feature that lets you soar around the skies of Rinascita. You can transform into a Cuddle Wuddle and leap. Swim up on a gondola when doing the main quest, and even cruise share on a gondola. There are even a number of new minigames to enjoy.
You'll discover multiple factions, learn what they’re about, what they want, and discover there's some tension brewing. The Order of the Deep, the Fool's Troupe, Fisalia, and the Montelli family are just some of those factions.
New playable characters come from those factions. Carlotta, of the Montelli family, is an art investor and negotiator for her family, and she is also a five-star Resonator who wields dual pistols. Her combat style is elegant. Roccia, of the Fool’s Troupe, is an improv comedian in her faction, and she infuses performance skill into her combat. Not only can she summon small tornadoes for battlefield control, she has a partner, Chest Mimic–Pero, who is more of a heavy hitter. Roccia can even set something up for the next Resonator to take over and maintain the effects she created. A new weapon in the update, Tragicomedy, are gauntlets that resemble theater masks.
The update (full patch notes have all the details) also introduces the game's first character skins. Jinhsi gets a peach blossom themed skin and Sanhua gets Exorcistic Adjuration. There are at least five new bosses, 40 new Echoes, with 25 equippable, and much more.
