Launch day has finally come for Wrath of the Lich King Classic, moving World of Warcraft Classic into its next (very cold) phase with the new expansion content. The expansion’s global unlock has just happened, at 3 PM PT/ 6 PM ET, so if you’ve been considering getting yourself into Northrend, now’s your chance.
Blizzard has been preparing for this launch for some time, with a schedule covering the pre-patch, everything you need to know as a starter guide, a lore refresh, and the global unlock times announcement. With WoW Classic, Blizzard has worked to cater to fans who wanted the original experience, but the team has conceded that sometimes they’ve had to make some changes.
The Battle for Wintergrasp is one notable example, with the devs explaining that it will be included in the form of an instanced Battleground for capacity’s sake, and because it couldn’t work across layers. There are some other changes happening, and more that the dev team counts as must-know info before jumping into the newest expansion.
With Wrath Classic, head back to Northrend, get ready to learn some new skills, battle the Scourge, and complete some questlines that will bring back memories. Of course, there’s the Lich King himself, who you’ll have to journey to face. Maybe you’ll want to do so as a Death Knight? As long as you’ve reached level 55, that’s an option.
“Master and Lord of the Scourge
His evil is legend. His power and malice unparalleled. Lord of the undead Scourge, wielder of the cursed runeblade Frostmourne, and nemesis of the living, the Lich King will stop at nothing until all life on Azeroth is extinguished. Relive the legend and end his reign.”
So if you’ve been waiting for World of Warcraft Classic to push ahead with content, this is the day. Wrath of the Lich King Classic is live now. And he’s waiting for your challenge.
