If you’re looking to see just what Blizzard has in store for Wrath of the Lich King Classic, the next chapter has just gone into beta. Those who receive invites can help the team test things out for the next expansion before it goes live for all later in the year. This expansion update will also have a first, Fresh Start servers, among all of the returning content that Wrath brings.
The WoW team will invite players in waves, with the first group already eligible. According to the official beta start announcement, those who have already opted into beta invites on their Classic accounts will be getting invites, though you’ll also be able to sign up by toggling the opt-in.
Along with the beta testing period opening come the notes and features included in this first pass. The level cap during this initial beta phase is 76, and the Northrend Zones are in, along with questing, leveling up, dungeons, spells, talents and abilities, and the Death Knight starting experience. The new systems and features included this time are:
- Revamped Group Finder
- Vehicles
- Quest phasing
- Glyphs and Inscription
With Wrath of the Lich King Classic on the way, the beta test period will be going on for a while to help the team get the expansion content in the right place. In the meantime, there are several notices and deadlines already in place to move things along. The character cloning service That lets you move a character ahead while keeping your Classic character in the previous expansion Edition, will be ending on July 26th, but at least it's on sale until then.
The team will also be shutting down a number of Burning Crusade Classic servers in August. With a new expansion coming, and the clone service being retired, it’s a move to keep a good population on the remaining worlds.
