World of Warcraft Classic’s Season of Mastery will be coming to an end, and players have to decide what to do with their characters. Blizzard has announced that the Season of Mastery servers will soon become transfer-only, and the wind-down process will begin.

Season of Mastery was designed as an accelerated, fresh start, challenging opportunity for WoW Classic, but it was always intended to be a limited time only event. More recently, the team announced that you would be able to transfer your Season of Mastery Characters to Classic era or to Wrath of the Lich King Classic for free, but now there’s more info on some of the timeline.

After February 14th, the “Enter World” button will disappear from all Season of Mastery servers, and the only way to keep your characters is to use the promised free transfers to pick a new Classic or Wrath Classic realm to be your characters’ new home. While this date will mark the beginning of a kind of ‘transfer or else’ period, they haven’t said just how long the window would be open. In fact, the announcement today specifically notes that they won’t keep it open indefinitely.

“We intend to keep your Season of Mastery character list available for some time thereafter, so that you can initiate free transfers from Season of Mastery realms to Classic Era or Wrath Classic realms. We do not yet know how long that access will continue to be available, but we will let you know once we do.”

If you are an indecisive type, or you haven't decided which path is right for your character to continue adventuring, you do have some time before that window will close, and they are planning to announce it, but you should probably not hold off for too long.
