World of Warcraft Classic’s 20th Anniversary Edition is heading into phase 2 on January 9th. For this update, expect new content and also the addition of the new Honor system WoW Classic Era realms and Season of Discovery use.

With this update, the Honor cap will be set to rank 11 with the update and later will extend to rank 14 after the Blackwing Lair raid dungeon is added. In the announcement of the phase 2 date, they talk about what the reasons were behind bringing the new Honor system into this fresh version of Classic, and one being lessons learned when the original system launched.

Chaotic PvP was the result, and, in turn, they released battlegrounds earlier than they had planned to. This time, they have those lessons behind them so the timing of the battlegrounds is very much planned this time.

“This time, with the new Anniversary Edition realms, we’re leaning into the excitement and embracing the chaos—for one week only!”

Along with the Honor system, the update will add the Dire Maul dungeon and the world bosses Azuregos and Kazzak. The dungeon will open up at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time globally, so you may need to check when that is in your region. A week later, on January 16th, the Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley battlegrounds will be ready to absorb the chaos With a 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time global unlock.
