Worlds Adrift: Creating a Next-Gen Game to Blur the Lines

A new blog post has been published on Improbable.io that explores Worlds Adrift and how the game is being created utilizing Unity 3D in order to blur the lines between traditional MMOs and alternate realities.  The engine runs independently from players which allows greater immersion and exploration in a fully dynamic world.

The article goes into great length about the underpinnings of such a system, called SpatialOS, that allows games to "run in a self-healing, dynamically scaling swarm of compute resources, so you don't have to deal with capacity planning, load balancing, fault tolerance and cluster monitoring".
