World of Warships: Legends is marking its third anniversary since release in August and starting celebrations a little early. The event celebrations are coming, and today, the first wave of Tier VIII ships arrive for the console version of Wargaming’s naval MMO.

Tier VIII ships are new to Legends and the first 14 are now available with the latest update today. These 14 ships represent a variety of types of vessels from the USA, France, Germany, USSR, and Japan, and can be earned through playing the game. Of the new ships, 12 are available through the tech tree.

The other two, including the new Tier VIII République, will be available through other means. The République is the ultimate prize in the newly added L’Ambassadeur Campaign. This is a 5 week, 100-milestone campaign (with catch up enabled) that can net you this prize of the  French navy. In fact, this is the model for significant events going forward,  where players can get the highest-ranked non-Legendary tier ships as a standard in-game reward. This change is part of a series of changes to balance and stabilize the economy.

August 12th is the third anniversary of World of Warships: Legends launch, And there will be anniversary presents for all players, a special event, as well as increased bonuses. Last year's Arpeggio of Blue Steel returns and there are two new projects around the anniversary to expand the Research Bureau. One is centered around the French Colbert, a Legendary cruiser, the other new ship available in the update but not from the tech tree.

The rest of the update brings back Treasure Hunt, makes a series of balance changes, including adjustments to Tier VII models now that Tier VIII has arrived, and fixes some bugs. It also sets the stage for a new installment of the Auction next month..

You can read the complete patch notes over at World of Warships: Legends.
