Blizzard has kicked off a welcome back weekend for World of Warcraft ahead of the launch of the venerable MMO’s upcoming expansion, The War Within, later this month.
From August 1 through August 4 players with inactive World of Warcraft accounts will be granted full access to the game and this includes all characters without a subscription or remaining game time. Blizzard’s announcement emphasized that full access includes all of the game’s expansions, including Dragonflight and The War Within’s pre-expansion event, Radiant Echoes.
Players joining this weekend can play through the game’s new starting experience at level 1 or pick the starting area for their chosen race. Allied race characters will begin at level 10 while non-Allied race Death Knights and Demon Hunters will start at 8 and begin in their own starting experiences before they can move on at level 10.
Once players reach level 10, they can proceed to Dragonflight or talk to Chromie and initiate a Timewalking Campaign to choose one of the game’s expansions to level up in. Players will need to achieve level 70 enter Khaz Algar and begin their adventures in The War Within once it goes live.
World of Warcraft: The War Within launches on August 26.
