World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary celebration is here, with the latest update. The super-sized event will run from today through January 6, 2025, and offer a series of new and nostalgic events, new Dracthyr classes, and much more to enjoy and to collect.
The Caverns of Time is your destination to get the party started. Those 10+ will get the event quest “Another Timely Invitation” to head over there. Your options include Timewalking dungeons, a new Codex of Chromie adventure, take on the Blackrock Depths raid dungeon, and even PvP via Korrak’s Revenge. Maybe you prefer the glory of taking down some world bosses with other celebrants? The Sha of Anger and Archavon the Stonewatcher are joined by Doomwalker, Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, and the Dragons of Nightmare.
Collect the event currency, Bronze Celebration Tokens, along the way to earn your way to some shiny new items.
One of the highlights of the update are the new Dracthyr classes: Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior. While the Evoker always uses drachyr form in combat, the new classes can toggle between forms or set them to auto swap in and out of combat.
Speaking of classes, the Shaman gets some new Ascendance forms that reflect elemental mastery. Elemental Shaman gets a fire form, Enhancement a wind form, and Restoration gets a water form.
Blizzard isn’t just celebrating 20 years of World of Warcraft, they're also marking 30 years of the Warcraft franchise. Warcraft III back pieces are among the cosmetics you can grab from the Trading Post. Speaking of cosmetics, how about classic Tier 2 armor sets, now for all 13 classes? Also available to players with this event are Blizzard Employee Service Award cosmetics – with a sword, shield, and crown, along with the new Coldflame Tempest mount inspired by them.
There are also some other mounts, pets, and more to add to your stash. This is the first time an anniversary event features Warbands, so you’ll be able to share goodies with your alts too.
If you want to savor every detail of the big event, you can do that with the full patch notes.
