World of Warcraft Will Rework Dungeon Difficulty and Rewards in Dragonflight Season 4

Prepare for more options and more challenge

In World of Warcraft’s upcoming Dragonflight Season 4, dungeons are getting a number of changes, with difficulty and rewards both getting reworked. Expect changes to level requirements, rewards, and shifts to increase dungeon longevity and offer endgame players more to do.

Blizzard shared details on the upcoming changes, which have been done with a few goals in mind. First, Heroic dungeons and Mythic dungeons don’t really keep player attention once the Mythic+ season begins. This has meant that Mythic+ felt like the ‘real’ season, with others only getting steady play when introduced. Additionally, Mythic+ has depends on a timer, so there is nothing for those skilled endgame players who want a strategic and methodical challenge without time pressure.

With the rework, Normal dungeons will remain as-is, but Heroic will be tuned up to “Mythic 0”, with rewards and difficulty raised to current Mythic (0). Current Mythic dungeons will get difficulty and rewards boosted up to about a +10 dungeon with affixes. This intends to turn Mythic into a mega-dungeon type experience. No timers here, so those who want a good challenge at endgame, with valuable rewards, will have this option.

Mythic+ will get a series of tweaks to bring rewards up “+2 starting from what would regularly be a +11 in the current Mythic+ system”. There will be a smaller range of keystone levels to find groups for, and they’re looking to make progression feel meaningfully earned.

While these may seem like a lot of overhauls, the WoW team does state that the basic structure of rewards isn’t really changing much. What is changing is when and how you earn them, and the dungeon options for different player types.

There are more details in the announcement, including how these overhauls affect Crest and Flightstone rewards, as well as a chart and a rundown of how the overall rewards will shift.

The changes are coming across all eight Dragonflight dungeons when Season 4 begins.
