If you were already having fun flying in World of Warcraft, whether by the old flying system or dynamic riding, wait until The War Within hits. In this new expansion, Dragonflying will expand out into more mounts and older content, and Skyriding will be easily available off the bat.
“Dragonriding is here to stay and will also be available for many flying mounts in all flyable areas even prior to the launch of The War Within,” a new blog by Blizzard reads. “Players will also be able to toggle between Skyriding (previously known as dynamic flight) or the flying style introduced originally in The Burning Crusade (TBC) which we’re calling Steady Flight.”
The short-burst Skyriding system will be available to players when they enter The War Within’s first major area, but this time, the old flying system will require exploration and finishing the campaign. The expansion also includes findable glyphs for Dragonriding, which players won’t need to backtrack to achieve here, though some abilities for this system will still be locked to the Dragon Isles.
There’ll also be indicators for which ground mounts can achieve certain flying capacities.
Currently, there’s an ongoing invite-only Beta Test for The War Within, which we assume includes this flying stuff since that was announced just before the beta went live. More details are available on Blizzard's official post.
