The tenth expansion for World of Warcraft is now live, with The War Within's early access period kicking off this afternoon.
The War Within brings a new zone, Khaz Algar, to Azeroth, as players gear up to take on the forces of the Void in World of Warcraft's latest chapter. The first expansion as part of the ongoing Worldsoul Saga, The War Within also sees its new Warbands feature, Delves, and a new layer to its class specialization with Hero Talents take center stage.
For those who purchased the Epic Edition (either Physical or Digital), Azeroth's latest expansion opened its doors early, though everyone else will be patiently waiting until the full release on August 26th.
Announced back at BlizzCon 2023, World of Warcraft: The War Within continues the MMO's legendary storytelling into its twentieth year, kicking off the new Worldsoul Saga expansion trilogy that seeks to carry World of Warcraft through its third decade. We had the chance to chat with a few of the developers ahead of today's early access launch, delving more deeply into its Mythic+ plans, Delves themselves, and much more.
Leading up to today's launch, the Warcraft team has been a bit busy, with the franchise's executive director Chris Metzen diving deep into the story and goals of the Worldsoul Saga. The team also dove into the specific storytelling on offer in The War Within on the most recent WoWCast podcast, while late last week the team broke down a bit more of its ideas behind Hero Talents in the MMO's expansion.
