There is no doubt that at the heart of it all, World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, but sometimes players don't have the time to sink into a full-fledged gameplay session with their friends and can fall behind. Luckily, Blizzard has taken note of that and has come up with a fix.

There are a lot of things within World of Warcraft as it stands today that require the help of friends, whether that be IRL friends or people you meet along the way in game. According to PCGamesn, Blizzard will be making The War Within a little more solo friendly with the use of Warbands, Follower Dungeons which are already implemented, and of course NPC companions to help along the way.

In regard to the solo play changes, Blizzard states,

“At its heart it’s still a multiplayer game and that’s how we use our priority, But what we’ve seen over time in MMORPGs, at least for us, not everyone has time to dedicate hours a day or a week. We don’t serve them well. So it’s their time; it’s our time to serve them well. It’s not that they only ever solo, but providing them an opportunity to do a Delve with a family member or friend. I think it’s a valid way to play. We haven’t supported this way in the past. We’re going to give it a shot.”

Blizzard has gone hard with the raids and PvP in the past, but never really catered to those who may just be riding solo from one to max level, but after looking at a handful of player data, it was noted that solo players do exist and don’t get the attention they deserve like raiders and PvPers do.

Most people have jobs, responsibilities, and outside lives they have to tend to, but when they want to indulge in a bit of World of Warcraft, playing catch up can be a big ask when so many things rely on a group. It’s comforting to see that Blizzard has taken that into account and is moving forward in a positive way to cater to those who may not have the no-life mentality when new content drops.

The War Within has several solo features, one of which is the new in-depth Warband system that allows transferring goods, gold and gear to alternate characters a breeze. The new storyline to follow along with is an interesting one, along with new zones to explore and lore to enjoy. There is no set release date for the latest expansion in the saga as of yet, but it is currently in the Alpha testing phase allowing waves of players to test the waters prior to release.
